The Real Footie Analyst

Player Ratings: Liverpool 3 Manchester United 1

Liverpool

P.Reina – 6 – Was never really bothered..as United’s attack was weak.
Johnson – 7 – Showed determination from the start and kept the ever overlapping Evra at bay.
J.Carragher – 7 – The kind of games he looks forward to all season and did not put a foot wrong all day. Lucky to have finished the game for the tackle on Nani.
Skrtel – 6 – Fine game by the defender, was never really under any pressure.
Aurelio – 5 – Little time to be given a fair rating, but was steady in the minutes he played.
Lucas – 7 – Always been the scape goat for Liverpool’s losses but now he is repaying the coach’s trust very much.
Mereiles – 7 – The Portuguese has been a marvel at Anfield and got stuck into Scholes, and never allowed him to control play.
Rodriguez – 7 – Normal game from the midfielder – no real threat.
Gerrard – 7 – The skipper likes these kind of games and he was always pushing and grazed the upright on two occasions.
Suarez – 8 – Man of the match – created two goals and the first being an exhibition of his skill – good signing.
Kuyt – 8 – Hat-trick hero – always gets in there for big games. Showed his predatory instinct by scoring three goals from a distance which combined will not even get from the small box.
Subs:
J.Cole –  Not enough time to get a rating – time wasting tactic.
Kyrigiakos -7 – The defender was brought in for the injured Aurelio and played well.
Carroll – 6 – Long awaited debut and nothing really much to shout about but look out for him in the games coming up.

Manchester United

Van Der Sar – 5 – Could not really be faulted for the first two goals but failed to parry away(hold on to/recover in time) for the third goal.
Rafael – 4 – The Brazillian needs to control his anger as its always suspect in big games.
Smalling – 6 – The young defender got stuck in there but was poor for the first goal as he was skinned by Suarez.
Brown – 5 –  Lacked match fitness but played decently having not played in a while.
Evra – 5 – Captain of the day. Stable in defence but lacked the marauding runs that always give United the edge.
Nani – 5 – Gifted Liverpool with the second goal and was carried off at half-time. Poor tackle on him by Carragher ( but have a feeling that Nani was avoiding the hairdryer treatment) so waiting to hear on the results.
Scholes – 5 – Was bossed around by Mereiles and Lucas and never really threatened.
Carrick – 5 – Did not protect the make-shift defence like he should have. Did not track late runs from the Liverpool midfielders.
Giggs – 6 – Always pushing, but the final ball into the box never really found a team-mate.
Berbatov – 6 – Good control on most occasions – even hit the post but it was not the EPL’s top scorer’s day.
Rooney – 5 – Everyone thought he was coming back to form, but United was poor all round and he had no supply.
Subs:
O’ Shea – 5 – Brought in to save Rafael from getting a red card – stable.
Fletcher – Not enough time to get a rating. Many will argue that he should’ve started as he is alwys hyped-up for the big games.
Hernandez – 6 – Scored the consalation goal in a really good debut season for the Mexican.
Phil Dowd – 6 – With the spotlight on the refs all eyes were probably on him. He had a good game and tried to keep things under control. Made two bad desicions decisions by not sending off Carragher. and later Rafael.

You can make a good proffesional football analyst but I think you are not fare on carrick and wayne…I think the former had a decent game only that he didn’t have support…for Rooney,he made very good runs too in the 2nd half..I think He and Giggs gave that game a good pace..too bad it wasnt your day….As for your defence,I think you missed the services of vidich..he holds the man u defence together and does all the dirty work.Well rated though..it’s the first time I hear you speaking good of another team with man u envolved
