Adnan Januzaj is tipped to be United’s next Cristiano Ronaldo

Adnan-JanuzajManchester United fans will get to see more of this promising youngster over the coming season as David Moyes has been credited with giving youngsters a chance at the right time. Anyway, I thought I’d share this good read with you.

Eric Harrison believes that Manchester United youngster Adnan Januzaj has the potential to be the next Cristiano Ronaldo.

Harrison, 75, was the mastermind behind United’s widely-celebrated class of 1992, with fresh-faced teenagers David Beckham, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes, Ryan Giggs and the Neville brothers going on to attain legendary status at Old Trafford under Sir Alex Ferguson.

And Harrison has been impressed by a new wave of talent of Old Trafford, with Januzaj catching his eye after a string of exciting performances during the club’s pre-season tour.

The young Belgian lit up Old Trafford with his dazzling skills and quick feet during Rio Ferdinand’s testimonial earlier this month and Harrison sees shades of former United star Ronaldo in the 18-year-old.

Harrison told the Manchester Evening News: ‘Januzaj is outstanding and I think he is similar to Cristiano Ronaldo. He can beat people and with Wilfried Zaha, I think there is some outstanding quality there.’

Januzaj has evoked comparisons with the Portuguese superstar after impressing United staff with his balance, powerful shot and confidence on the ball in pre-season. The likeness with Ronaldo doesn’t end there, with the two also sharing the same birthday – February 5 – with Barcelona wonderkid Neymar also born on that day.

Jesse Lingard also shone in United’s first pre-season under new manager David Moyes, with the attacking midfielder ending the tour as United’s leading goalscorer, firing four goals in Asia and Australia – and Harrison is hopeful that the 20-year-old will be handed a chance to impress in the Barclays Premier League this season.

‘For me, Jesse is the top of the pile. Technically he is brilliant. He can control the ball and he is always in the right position which is very important in the Premier League. He’s got great attributes and he’s a super lad which is very important.

‘I think the new manager will give youngsters a chance without a doubt. I spoke to Ryan Giggs and Phil Neville and everyone is really impressed with his coaching. We all have our fingers crossed as we know that pressure can build very quickly at United but I think he will continue giving youth a chance.’
