Man City fan plans to teach his budgie to say “6-1”

A Manchester City fan is planning to teach his pet budgie to say “6-1” after Sunday’s derby demolition of neighbours Manchester United. The talking bird can already chirp ‘Come on City’ and ‘Roberto Mancini’ during football games.

Life-long City fan Jeremy Sutcliffe was not a happy bunny when his wife Jean decided to get the pet, named Cheeksey, but was pleasantly surprised by the bird’s allegiance to his team.

Jean said: ‘I taught him to say “Come on City” and “Roberto Mancini” and, needless to say, Jeremy now thinks he’s a top bird.

‘He’s got a great repertoire,’ the Cheshire car-plant worker and City season ticket holder for over 30 years, agreed.

‘He’s definitely a City fan, but he’d have to be in this house.’

Cheeksey is no bird-brain; Jeremy hopes the phrases ‘Sergio Aguero’ and ’6-1′ are next on the budgie’s agenda – the latter referring to City’s emphatic victory over Manchester United – in a bid to ‘peck’ fun at Red Devils’ fans.

City’s triumph leaves them ruling the roost at the summit of England’s top flight and can continue nesting in the heights with victory against Wolves at home on Saturday.
